The Director of Program and Student Services reports to the Vice President of Global Operations 

 

Job Overview 

CAPA seeks a collaborative and strategic leader for the role of Director of Program and Student Services, London. This is an engaging and highly visible opportunity in our premier and largest study centre in South Kensington, with the primary responsibility to deliver the gold standard student care and programing for which CAPA is known. The Director is responsible for the full operations of the Program and Student Services Team, with the opportunity to grow the team while building on strengths already in place. The Director works collaboratively with other departments within the London Centre as well as with colleagues across CAPA’s Boston headquarters and other global locations. This hands-on role provides highly rewarding opportunity to positively impact students academic and personal experience and growth while studying in London 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead a team of study abroad professionals providing college and university students with a high-quality experience in which they  learn, grow and explore during their time in London
  • Create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all students and staff
  • Support students’ physical and mental health needs, including proactively developing wellness plans and making referrals to professionals as needed
  • Manage student disciplinary concerns and lead CAPA’s global disciplinary committee
  • Lead the crisis management protocols for the London centre and play a key role within CAPA’s global crisis management team; provide back-up emergency support to staff who are on call
  • Plan all London centre services including student arrival and orientation, activity and centre schedule, holistic student and programming reviews
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all program and student activities
  • Work with the team to provide oversight of the centre facilities, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained space
  • Manage budget for centre services and facilities as well as program budgets
  • Manage student housing including allocations, approval of healthsafety, and suitability. Mediate student housing concerns with the housing provider 
  • Monitor and assess student feedback through a variety of sources, developing action plans and monitoring outcomes. Collaborate with the academic and internship teams to create a comprehensive report for the  centre
  • Attend and speak at CAPA events including arrival and departure parties, mid-term dinners and special events
  • Present CAPA London at various events, either in person or online, and lead visits by representatives from our US university partners to London
  • Participate in and/or lead company-wide committees  

 

Qualifications 

 

Required:  

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience 
  • Excellent attention to detail and focus on quality and student success  
  • Crisis management experience in the areas of major incidents such as terrorism, student mental or physical health crises, student disciplinary matters etc.   
  • Resourceful, out-of-the-box thinker with strong people skills and the ability to remain calm and thoughtful under pressure  
  • Demonstrated ability to take on responsibility and lead at a high level 
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities, sometimes outside of normal office hours  
  • A high level of proficiency in computer software particularly Microsoft Word and Excel  
  • Ability to work within a budget as well as a proven ability to negotiate and ensure quality of services booked 
  • A flexible, growth mindset as CAPA London expands and develops 
  • The legal right to work in the UK  

 

Hours:  

Full time. Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 17:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the study abroad field, additional time beyond regular office hours is to be expected in this role.
